Feathered Nest Bird Rescue
Feathered Nest Bird Rescue believes birds are one of Gods greatest creations and should be cared for and protected. Feathered Nest is a not for
profit 501C3 organization that rescues neglected and abused exotic birds. Feathered Nest is also an USDA registered shelter. We provide food, lodging, veterinary services and behavior modification for all the birds we receive at no cost to the original owner. Our goal is to educate the owners on proper care of an exotic bird in hope the bird can be returned to its owner or adopted out to a proper home. Some birds however, have found a forever home at Feathered Nest due to behavioral or physical problems caused by the abuse they have endured. Home visits are made to ensure adopted birds are properly cared for. Feathered Nest Bird Rescue is owned and operated by Connie and Adam (Dan) Ivanuck and is located in Woodburn, IL.
Feathered Nest Bird Rescue participates in many different educational programs at no cost to the institution. Birds at Feathered Nest visit schools, nursing homes and other rehabilitation centers across the area. The only compensation received are the smiles on the faces of the people we visit. Feathered Nest has donated birds with cages to a classroom at a local school. The teacher and students love having the birds as their classroom pets. It is very rewarding to show these beautiful creatures to the public that may not otherwise have a chance to see them.
Due to geographical location, no grants or funding is available to Feathered Nest. There is no compensation for volunteers or directors of the program. Everything needed to care for the birds is paid for through donations. Feathered Nest charges adoption fees to new owners to help cover the cost of veterinary care and food cost. These fees are waived in some circumstances.
Dan and Connie often make their own perches, toys and repair cages in order to reduce cost associated with these items. Feathered Nest has an annual garage sale to raise money to pay for veterinary care and food costs. All items are donated to Feathered Nest. More information about making donations can be found on our donations page.
